Bundle Of Fur

If you are in the metro Detroit area and are in the market for a furry new addition to your family, I highly recommend the Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo event! There is another one in September if you missed the May edition. :) There are so many great rescue organizations and sweet puppies, kittens, dogs and cats who need homes (please don't go to the pet store!).

We found ourselves wanting a kitten last month when our sweet girl, Babe passed away due to kidney failure. Our other kitty (Buffy) seemed pretty lonely and the house seemed so quiet without another cat romping around. We went to the event with an open mind, but I secretly wanted a friendly, gray boy kitten. Giles (formerly "Mo") was the first little guy we saw. He was in a cage with 2 tabby kittens who were fast asleep and he proceeded to walk on top of them, run around the cage, and whoop it up for his many admirers. I immediately said, "that's him!" and grabbed the nearest foster mommy from Feline Friends so we could begin the adoption process.

They are awesome--we were interviewed thoroughly and had to fill out forms and sign a contract promising to have him neutered. After we were approved we got to take home our new little bundle of fur. He is an Oriental Shorthair and sweet as pie (he is also quite lively and frisky). He is certainly giving Buffy a run for her money, and is getting quite used to having the camera in his face. :)
